Social Services Associate – (2 needed)
Location: Lincoln
Eligibility: Must be 55 or older, of low income and unemployed.
These positions are available through the Senior Community Service Employment Program
Reports to: Director
Tasks:
Depending on strengths, credentials and background of applicant, tasks could include:
conducting classes, workshops, programs and support groups,
doing social work assessments,
monitoring clients by phone and visits,
providing individual and/or group intervention and counseling,
providing information and referral,
orienting new clients to the agency and its services,
doing “office hours” for the above at various housing development with elder residents
Qualifications: Relevant educational credentials and experience providing social work, counseling or other interventions. Previous work with elders a plus, but we will train.
Hours: 20 hours per week. Hours would be determined by applicant and agency, depending on tasks and availability.
Training: We anticipate that the applicant will bring professional-level social work, counseling, therapeutic, or related services. We will provide training in applying these skills in a community setting for elders, including age-related issues that clients will bring, adapting programs and services for older clients, completing common social work and related tasks in a community-based setting, and navigation the elder service network.
